Today's Full Moon brings her very own fiery Motherlode. Venus is in her very last degrees of Cancer conjuring some darker, shadow issues with the women or "mothers" in our lives. Black Moon Lilith in Virgo is squaring this Full Moon, bringing out darker shadow issues around perfectionism, jealousy, revenge, fault-finding and OCD tendencies.
The operative word now is "load" --as in overloaded. Sagittarius is the sign of taking on way more than can we humanly handle. Aiming sky-high has its consequences. We overdo, overkill, over-promise and then over-schedule ourselves right into an anxiety attack. Saturn is currently finishing out his first run in the sign of jumbo plans and cracking his severe "rein it in" whip. Mercury is still in retrograde in Gemini and making the "do-over" an hourly ritual. Expect to do everything at least twice before liking it or getting right.
Mars, the god of conflict and cutting things up, is especially dominant in the sky at the moment, and opposing the Sagittarius Full Moon in the Trickster sign of Gemini. The Full Moon falls on his day (Mardi-Tuesday-aka Mars Day), and hence his time-turf, so to speak. Hence the nervous, scattered and restless feelings that keep your mind spinning in circles getting amped up by the mental turbo power of Mars in his own sign (I feel the nerve pinch happening down my left shoulder as I write from lack of deep breathing and computer hunching while nail biting while trying to write this Full Moon piece since last Friday). When the mind is flying, life quickly spins out of control. Anxiety and the breath are one-to-one. This is a time when the swords suit dominate tarot readings and Xanax sales soar. We can't seem to shut our minds or our gadgets off long enough to inhale or exhale. Gemini rules the lungs. It's hard for our respiratory systems to function in a way that remotely resembles a deep, breathing human. We're skittish, paranoid and perhaps even convinced others are out to get us. This may or not be the case as Neptune (planet of illusions and delusions) also plays a major role in the archetypal mix now.

I am currently in the midst of a powerful Jungian conference called, "On the Brink" and that theme also feels very fitting for this Full Moon, We're all teetering on the edge of our very own brinkmanship as Saturn gets ready to go back into Scorpio, the sign of death and rebirth for one final psychic house cleaning. It's like we're all having to manage the disassociated and neurotic state of being caught in between the two worlds of known and unknown, the almost and not yet.
One of my favorite Jungian analysts, Dr. Allan Guggenbuhl had these brilliant words to say about conflict in his mythodrama workshop this afternoon: "It usually takes conflict for us to take the mask off, and see beyond our own adaptation codes. We don't learn through approval. We learn through irritation. It tells us that something new is approaching, a process is happening." If we can keep this in mind as we navigate this fiery time of both inner and outer conflict and the emergence of the unforeseen, we will summon the strength and courage to stay on and keep the faith.
The most intense conflicts, if overcome, leave behind a sense of security and calm that is not easily disturbed. It is just these intense conflicts and their conflagration which are needed to produce valuable and lasting results.Carl Jung
