Full Moon in Sagittarius:
June 13th
Because he had no place he could stay in without getting tired of it and because there was nowhere to go but everywhere, keep rolling under the stars...
― Jack Kerouac
When the Moon goes full in the sign of “roam if you want to” Sagittarius, the desire to expand our horizons becomes an all consuming obsession. Sagittarius encourages us to aim higher and to pursue only the best and the brightest. There is a contagious optimism to the mutable and fiery energy of Sagittarius. Yet, this particular Full Moon coincides with two very emotionally heavy influences. The first is the opposition between Venus in her own sensual sign of Taurus versus Saturn in the watery and all-or-nothing sign of Scorpio. This puts pressure on relationships, commitments, financial debt, and our physical bodies. Mars and Pluto also square off between Libra and Capricorn, reigniting the Cardinal Cross energies of April. Mercury is currently retrograde in Cancer invoking some serious nostalgia and emotional confusion. Finally add the Chiron in Pisces-Saturn in Scorpio aspect and you get another layer of deep emotional healing of old wounds. It’s not surprising we may be looking for the nearest escape hatch. Enter the wanderlust Full Moon in Sagittarius to clear away limitations, stagnation and pessimism. Jupiter is the planet ruling this Full Moon and currently in his exalted state (meaning doing his best work) in Cancer. This bodes well for generating more abundance, gifts and wisdom even in the midst of doubt, despair and power struggles. If relationship woes and other emotional struggles are getting us down, the uplifting energy of Sagittarius will help us to see the big picture. If we feel bogged down in reviewing past emotional hurts, despairing over what’s lost, this lunation reminds us to look up. There is always more to the story and a silver lining if we aim high enough and dust ourselves off. This Rumi poem says it all:
Inside this new love, die.
Your way begins on the other side.
Become the sky.
Take an axe to the prison wall.
Escape.
Walk out like someone
suddenly born into color.
Do it now.
You’re covered with thick cloud.
Slide out the side. Die,
and be quiet. Quietness is the surest sign
that you have died.
Your old life was a frantic running
from silence.
The speechless full moon
comes out now-Rumi
