Mars in Pisces:
“The only way out of the labyrinth of suffering is to forgive.”
― John Green
When Mars moves into the watery world of Pisces on January 12, our instincts for aggression and action can get a bit soggy. Instead of fighting and asserting our will and ego, we may lose sense of where we end and the other person (or situation) begins. We feel summoned to release our grudges and forgive. We forgive to unburden our own souls. Holding on to hurt or anger is most harmful to the one gripping on to those toxic feelings. Our egos convince us that it's up to us to police the universe and keep score, when in reality that just blocks us from flow and the magic from reaching our feet.
We are all more like psychic sponges now -- especially those with heavy Pisces planets in their chart. The desire to express ourselves through song, authentic movement or other more ethereal, mystical and non-verbal forms of communication is suddenly bubbling up from our unconscious.
We are drawn and inspired by imagery now, so don’t be surprised if you suddenly develop an Instagram addiction over the next month. We would rather check out, become intoxicated and lose ourselves in dance. This is the urge to merge Mars that easily triggers our longing to lose the ego in something bigger, more transcendental and infinitely more poetic than, say, working out on a treadmill or holding down a 9 to 5 job. We want our bliss stations. We want to find that place where boundaries don’t exist.

"We should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once.”
-- Friedrich Nietzsche
Mars represents the way we channel our energy, so while in the super sensitive and “absorbing” sign of Pisces, we feel moved and influenced depending on the atmosphere. Thus, it’s super important to surround yourself with energies and situations that you actually want to seep into your being. Films, theater, music and all forms of dance feel especially soulful now.
Pisces is the sign of sleep, dreams and the imagination, so we can use the power of Mars to tap into our deep inner wells of creativity and compassion. Pisces is also one of the most empathic signs of the zodiac, so we may feel more compelled to apply our energies toward alleviating the suffering of others during this transit -- and that’s a beautiful thing.
