Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn
Notes from the Underground
“The pleasure of despair. But then, it is in despair that we find the most acute pleasure, especially when we are aware of the hopelessness of the situation...
...everything is a mess in which it is impossible to tell what's what, but that despite this impossibility and deception it still hurts you, and the less you can understand, the more it hurts.”
― Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Notes from Underground
The ruler of the Underworld is about to go retrograde in Capricorn on April 12. This annual backup is our chance to review and rework all of the deep lessons of 2013 thus far. You can also think back to last April 2012 when Pluto was retrograde in Capricorn until November to see if there are some repeated patterns requiring a deepening of consciousness. Pluto is all about peeling away the layers, like the good old onion metaphor. Look to where Capricorn, Saturn and Scorpio fall in your horoscope to see which areas of your life are under a serious renovation project. One of my friends once said: “we are all like construction zones: raw, gutted, unfinished, unnerving, disruptive, leakage, erratic, crude, unstable, gaping pits. It can feel like this. Many of us prefer to think of ourselves as broke so that there may be some hope of a “fix” --quick or otherwise. When in truth, Pluto transits are long, hard and relentless (sixteen years) reminding us that psychological change does not come fast, easy or cheap. We have got to commit for the long haul. While Pluto retrogrades in Capricorn, we are working on core layers and being asked to heal any cracks in our psychic infrastructure. This requires an on-going painful, digging process of old wounds. Pluto first asks us to tear down whatever is shoddy, false or weak in order to rebuild from the ashes (Phoenix style). Spirituality is in the depth of the inner work. Take notes and keep shedding.
