NEW DELHI - FRIDAY NOV. 1st

Morning arrival in Dehli, after clearing Immigrations and Customs, you will be greeted by our airport representative at the airport who will accompany you in the coach to the hotel.  Arrive at The Imperial Hotel (45 minute drive approx) to a traditional welcome. The rest of the day you are free to relax, enjoy the hotel and spa and get over jet lag.  Lunch will be provided.  

Evening:  Dress in Indian attire to attend a very special Indian festival Diwali.  You will be invited to witness and participate in a Lakshmi puja ceremony being celebrated by families in their homes.  Dinner is included either at the family's home or back at the Imperial Hotel following the puja and Diwali celebrations with the family.

Day 2

DELHI - SATURDAY NOV. 2nd

After a leisurely breakfast, we set out for a guided tour of New Delhi and Luytens Delhi.  The drive along wide tree-lined avenues  with sprawling bungalows, view the India Gate war memorial, the government executive offices and crowning it all, Rashtrapati Bhawan (the Presidential Palace).  The tour continues through Old Dehli.  You will start off on a guided walk from Jamma Mosque, passing by the first Girls School, a wholesale brass market, then an old dying embroidery craft from Kashmir.  Turning down Gali Guliyan (a heritage street) will lead you to the old mansions (havelis).  The Dharampura Haveli  invites you to climb to the terrace for a great view of the old city.  Enjoy an Indian thali lunch (included).  Continue to Kinari Bazaar to board cycle rickshaws to continue to explore the local designer shops, then an opportunity to buy Indian Spices from the famous wholesale Spice Market.  The tpir ends at the Metro station and arrive back at the hotel around 4 p.m.  The rest of the day is free time.  Evening we gather for dinner (included).  

DELHI-AGRA - SUNDAY NOV. 3rd

Early wakeup - tea/coffee and check out.  Then off to the railway station to take the fast train (air-conditioned chair-car seating with breakfast on board.  On arrival at Agra, you will be met at the station by our representative and the local guide and proceed directly to the visit the legendary Taj Mahal.  Thereafter board golf-carts for a short ride to the Amar Vilas Hotel for an early lunch. After lunch drive towards Jaipur, about a 4 hour drive with stops for photos and restroom breaks.  At sunset you will arrive at your next hotel, the Villa Palladio in Jaipur.  After checking in, take the opportunity to relax, meditate and get ready for dinner.

JAIPUR - MONDAY NOV. 4th

Villa Palladio is a 30 minute drive from Jaipur.  Tucked into the nook between Sumel Doongri and the Kanota, this nine room property sits on a little more than three acres of land, enclosed within a strikingly white, crenelated boundary wall that increases its sense of hushed solitude.  The property was built in the 1980's and began life as a typical Rajasthani haveli.  Although the architecture is traditional, but its rejuvenated spirit is the recreation by Jaipur designers.  This is a free day to do as you please.  The mini-coach will be at your disposal should you wish to venture out to visit Queen Sisodia's palace and gardens or the ancient step-well just 15 minutes away.  Lunch and dinner are on your own.

PINK CITY - TUESDAY NOV. 5th

On this day set out on a guided tour of Amber and take an elephant ride up to this incredible Fort.  Amber is the 10th century capital that preceded Jaipur.  Lunch within the ramparts of the For or lunch at the Johri restaurant in the Pink City.  Lunch is included.  Continue to the Pink City for a visit of the City Palace and a guided walk through its colorful bazaars.  Jaipur has also become globally renowned as a design capital of the world, for its superb artisans in enamel work, prescious gem cutting and polishing, textile block printing and much more.  Finally visit the City Palace dominating the Pink City of Jaipur.  The public areas are defined by elegant courtyards, pavilions and doorways which are a clutch of private museums housing rich collections of royal memorabilia.  Return to your hotal and dinner ison your own.

JAIPUR - WEDNESDAY NOV. 6th

Full day free at Villa Palladio to relax.  Lunch and dinner are free.

Leisurely breakfast Thursday morning at the hotel prior to check out and baggage to be loaded on the coach. 

LAKE PICHOLA - THURSDAY NOV. 7TH

After  a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, around 9:30 a.m. check out and baggage to be loaded on the coach.  There is time for a quick shopping trip to the trendy  boutiques at Narain Niwas Palace.  Then a drive to the legendary Rambagh Palace for a light lunch. A farewell gift awaits you as you prepare to leave Jaipur:  your personal copy of the famous book "A Princess Remembers".  Then on our way to Jaipur Airport for a short domestic flight to Udaipur (approx. an hour), arrive at Udaipur.  We will meet up and  we will be taken to the Lake Palace Hotel, in the middle of Lake Pichola.  A tradition welcome  at the hotel upon arrival by boats.  Dinner at one of hotel's restaurant.  

UDAIPUR - FRIDAY NOV. 8th

Breakfast at the hotel.  Thereafter we take a boat to the shore to walk up to the imposing City Palace.  Lunch (included) at the Sunset Terrace with views of the lake.  After lunch we go on a guided walk of the old town of Udaipur, visiting the local handicraft stores famous for ancient textiles and miniature paintings, leading down to the Jadish Temple and the ghats.

In the evening, we board a private motorboat for a sunset cruise o Lake Pichola.  360 degree views of Udaipur, lakeshore, hilltop forts, cityscape and more.  Return to the hotel to rest and freshen up for dinner (not included).

UDAIPUR - SATURDAY NOV. 9th

Breakfast at the hotel and morning free to enjoy the pool and spa.  Later we checkout and drive to the Kklingji Shiva Temple for the day's blessings Eklingji is believed to the the ruling god of Mewar Princely State and the Maharana rules as his Dewan, the deity of the ruling family.  Optional:  Continue for lunch (not included) at the Devigarh Fortress a few kms away nestled high in the Aravalli hills with commanding views of the farmlands and village of Delwara.  After lunch drive back to Udaiput for your final night in India.  Check into the Oberoi Udai Vilas where you will have villas with semi-private pools!  Rest of the afternoon to relax, unwind, enjoy the spa and pool.

Evening:  Special Birthday dinner for Sherene at the Lakeside Pavilion at Udai Vilas (included).

 

 

SUNDAY - NOV. 10th

Breakfast at hotel and morning at leisure.  Check-out and transfer to the airport for a flight back to Delhi:  current choice of flights:

1.  Indigo - 9:55 a.m. arrive Delhi 11:15 a.m.

2.  Vistara - 3:20 p.m. arrive Delhi 4:55 p.m.

Arrive Delhi and connect to your international flight home.  Assistance will be provided at the airport for the transfer between two terminals and for check-in.

Sherene Vismaya

Sherene Vismaya, M.A. is a Jungian astrologer and psychoanalyst in private practice in NYC and San Francisco for the past eighteen years consulting, writing and teaching. Her own Priestess Path started around age five bellydancing on the road with her mother which brought her into contact with the powers of ritual and an embodied relationship to the Goddess. She specializes in depression, shadow work, anxiety, creative blocks, eating disorders, and relationships. Sherene has pioneered her own unique approach to Jungian and somatic healing modalities combined with her background in metaphysics inspired by her yearly pilgrimages to India.

She is the author of several books including collaborations on: Speculation Now; Transpersonal Astrology: Explorations at the Frontier, & Surviving Saturn's Return (McGrawHill), Dog Stars, and Fate of your Date.

She holds a Master's Degree from New York University in Clinical Psychology, a Masters in Developmental Psychology from Pace University and post-graduate work in psychoanalytic studies from The New School and ISAP, Zurich. She has been the resident astrologer for Elle Magazine for the past decade. Sherene teaches classes and workshops internationally.
